Some bosses are a wall until your gear catches up. The Ruin Chef in the
Throne Room (!throne) sells the shortcut: a food buff far stronger than
anything you can cook, paid for with Coins of Ruin that only hard bosses
drop. Kill what you can, bank the coins, eat the dish, take the next boss.
Coins of Ruin
Every hard boss on Dawn has a 5% chance to drop Coins of Ruin into the treasure pool when it dies. Regular tier bosses drop 1 to 2, the top bosses drop 5 to 10.
| Content | Counts as top boss when |
|---|---|
| Chronicle of Dawn NMs | chapter 6 and above |
| Dynamis [D] notorious monsters | boss is level 200+ |
| Odyssey, Henge, Omen, Sanctorium, Sinister Reign bosses | boss is level 200+ |
| World bosses, Legion avatars and auspicious waves, Vagary bosses | always |
| Behemoth, Fafnir, Adamantoise (the Land Kings) | always |
Coins are tradeable and stack to 99, so a group can pool them. There is no vendor and no auction house source; only the bosses.
Banking with the chef
- Deposit: trade any number of Coins of Ruin to the chef. They go into your account on the spot, and only the coins you traded are taken.
- Withdraw: pick Withdraw coins from his menu. He hands back 1, 5, 10, 25, or everything, as far as your inventory has room.
- Talk to him any time to see your balance in the menu title.
Ordering a dish
Pick a path, then a rank. Rank N costs N coins. Every dish is exactly four augments; higher ranks are the same four augments at higher values.
| Rank | Coins | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 | 30 min |
| 2 | 2 | 30 min |
| 3 | 3 | 60 min |
| 4 | 4 | 60 min |
| 5 | 5 | 300 min, and it survives death |
When you open a path the chef lists what every rank serves, so you can read
the numbers before you spend. Type !cuisine at any time to see the dish
you have active, how long is left, and its four augments.

A pet summoned while the dish is active picks up the augments on its own; you do not need to re-buy after releasing your pet or after your pet dies.
The rules
- It is food. A dish takes your food slot: you cannot eat anything else while it is up, and you cannot order a dish while normal food is up.
- Antacid clears it, the same as any meal. Nothing else removes it early: you cannot cancel it from the status bar, and unlike normal food no monster ability can strip it (Horrid Roar, Snatch Morsel and friends leave it alone).
- Ranks 1 to 4 are lost when you die, like any food. Rank 5 stays through death, raise, zoning and logging out until its five hours run out.
- One dish at a time. To change path or rank, let it expire or use an Antacid.
- The Attack, Defense and Weapon Skill Damage numbers are hard ceilings set by the server; they will not be raised.
For scale: the strongest augment you can put on one piece of gear is about Attack +32, Triple Attack +4%, or Weapon Skill Damage +8%. A rank 1 dish is worth about two such pieces; a rank 5 dish is worth a full set, for five hours, for five coins.
