How to play on Dawn

About fifteen minutes from here to Vana'diel.

Server online 4 playing now

1. You need the retail game installed

Dawn does not distribute Final Fantasy XI. You need a legitimate installation — the digital download from Square Enix works, and no active subscription is required to play here.

2. Update the client to version 30260303

Run the PlayOnline updater until the client reports version 30260303. This has to match exactly. The login server checks the version string and refuses anything else, because mismatched clients show corrupted text and broken menus.

3. Install the Dawn Launcher

The launcher is the only other thing you need. It installs and configures Ashita for Dawn, keeps the game files and itself up to date, and starts the game — you install it once and never touch a config file.

Download Dawn Launcher v0.1.112 · Windows · 81 MB

Windows SmartScreen may warn on first run because the installer is not code-signed. Choose More info → Run anyway. To verify your download, its SHA-256 is cf0c25f2b9bf59ac7e69bf91e27967734ec69577447da32c99751b627fb95a37

4. Create your account

Accounts are made at the login prompt itself, not on this website. Start the game through the launcher, choose the option to create an account, and pick your username and password there.

Once the account exists you can sign in here with those same details to view your characters.

Something not working?

Ask in Discord — someone is usually about. If a message in game looks like garbage text and nobody else sees it, use the launcher's repair option — that is almost always your client's DAT files rather than the server.
